Maggie Daley Park
Designed by landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh, the park was entirely remade with multiple new features including a new field house, an ice skating ribbon, climbing walls, landscaping and children’s playground.
Diversity in the Heart of "The Loop"
A 20-acre park formerly known as Daley Bicentennial Plaza in the Loop community area of Chicago, was transformed into a new space for its residents.
WC3 Design worked with lead Landscape Architect Michael Van Valkenburgh, Inc. to design an irrigation system that would efficiently irrigate the new park’s diverse landscape types without interfering with the public’s use of the space. The new system utilizes a state-of-the-art central control that automatically adjusts the irrigation schedule based on actual site weather conditions. The subterranean parking deck below the park presented an interesting challenge due to the necessity of routing the high-pressure irrigation main line through several feet of structural foam over the garage.
